About Bukit Mertajam Buddhist Association

The Bukit Mertajam Buddhist Association was established in 1976. It was founded by Lee Seng Keat on 30 May of that year. A temporary committee was also formed in the same year and was based in Tanah Liat. At that time, it was known as the Bukit Mertajam Tanah Liat Buddhist Association.

In 1977, after relocating to No. 1043 in Berapit, the association was officially registered with the Registrar of Societies (ROS). The first celebration was held on 2 June 1977 in conjunction with Vesak Day, and it later became an annual celebration of the association.
